Mixin’ It Up

Is it really Thursday already? This week is flying by! I can dig that πŸ™‚

Somehow I got this huge blister on the bottom of my foot, so going for a run wasn’t in the cards this morning. But I think I’m going to try something new. Something I’ve never done.

I’m going to workout in the afternoon. Like, after work and before class.Β I reallyΒ want to do it. My concern is that I usually loose steam in the afternoon. But I’ve packed my bag so I can go straight after work.

I’ve seen other bloggers ask for tips and inspiration for morning workouts, but I need summathat for my afternoon attempt! If you have any words on how to pump yourself up for an afternoon workout, I’d love to read them!

Moving on to something I never lose steam about: Breakfast. Oh my gracious – I can’t seem to stop a good thing when I’ve found it. I am in love with my overnight oats. I think we’ve gotten to the point in our blog-friendship where I can stop apologizing for my monotonous meals. It’s not that I’m boring. I’m just happy with what I’m eating πŸ™‚ If ain’t broke – don’t fix it (Writing that gramatically incorrect sentence makes me cringe, but it get my point across)

YUMMMY!

Today is day eight in the 30DPC πŸ™‚

A picture of your favorite memory

I graduated from college and got engaged to the love of my life in a matter of minutes. It was truly the best day of my life. I’ve never been so proud of myself and so happy (and genuinely shocked!) at the same time πŸ™‚

I hope you have a fantastic morning!!

Let’s chat – What’s your favorite memory? What time of day do you workout? What’s your favorite cardio routine?

  1. Repeat meals need no apologies if you ask me πŸ˜‰ I’m content with sweet potatoes every day for dinner if that’s what convenient πŸ˜‰ Your overnight oats look fantastic, anyways!
I think if you really WANT to do it, you won’t have any problem getting motivated to workout. For me, it’s the desire that really determines whether I’ll workout or not. I used to think I was strictly an am-workout person, but I did it in the afternoon once and was surprised at how much…easier? …it seemed.

Okay I’ll try to give you some motivation, since I usually workout in the afternoon! First off, you’ve got your workout clothes packed! Whenever I leave early in the morning, I have everything set out for my afternoon workout so there’s no excuse when I come home. Make sure your ipod is charged…if mine isnt charged, I’m less likely to go. Music keeps me pumped!! Best memory? When Stephen proposed at sunrise on the beach πŸ™‚ Fav Cardio? Kickboxing class or running outside. Btw – my PB is bout gone which means I’m makin’ Oats in a jar soon!

Good call on the iPod! I think mine is charged, but I have my phone as a back up. Whew! Um, I just realized that I don’t know your proposal story. Future blog post?? (Please?!) πŸ˜‰

  3. Aww thank you for your sweet comment on my post! I also LOVE overnight oats. They really help me in getting out of the door on time in the mornings! Your oat combinations look delicious and I will definitely try some!

Some of my fondest memories are of college graduation weekend. On Saturday I graduated college and was commissioned in the Army. On Sunday, I married my college sweetheart, Lisa.

  5. Ashley says:

My favorite memory would have to be making my speech at graduation and not a. falling on my face, and b. not losing my place during the speech. I usually work out after work when all the good classes are. My only cardo for now is my hip hop dance class! haha

    • Colleen says:

It was such a great speech and I knew a) you would NOT fall on your face and b) that it would be perfect. I was right πŸ™‚ And you’re taking a hip-hop dance class?!?! Haha I love it!

  6. Alyssa says:

I work out after work every day around 5 p.m. It does take some getting used to, but once you’re in the routine, it’s a LOT easier!

just tell yourself you can have a fabu dinner once you’re done. that’s what I do. πŸ˜‰

  7. Jess says:

Afternoon workouts are harder for me too.
And that sounds like an amazing memory, made me smile!

  8. I know what you mean about losing steam in the afternoon. I’m stuck working out at night, and I hate it, but there’s no way I could get up at 5:15 to work out.

    • Colleen says:

Yeah, I don’t know what it is – but around 3:00 I’m just like “get me outttaaa here!” and I’m tired and lazy. Haha πŸ™‚

  9. Megan says:

that is a great memory!!!! πŸ™‚

  10. Jenny says:

I’m a morning work out person and my go to cardio is most probably the elliptical, bike, and the treadmill. Don’t worry girl those overnight oats never get boring πŸ™‚

  11. I love your proposal story/photo. If my boyfriend proposed on graduation day that would be the best present ever…it’s like all of those years of hard work paid off,and now you have a future with him to look forward to :).

Um. That’s like the most adorable photo I’ve ever seen. That’s all I wanted to say. πŸ™‚
