Hello, friends! It looks like most of us eat when we’re hungry – no matter the time of day (or night!) That makes me feel better. Thanks for putting in your two cents! 🙂
After I posted this morning, I realized “(Explitive)! It’s Thursday and I didn’t post my To Tell the Truth!” Seriously, I didn’t realize it was Thursday. I’m so tired. But on my lunch break today I put it together! 🙂
Speaking of lunch, I had a Chobani- blueberry-Kashi cereal mix and an apple on the side. It was lovely.
To Tell the Truth
To tell the truth… I’m terrible at hiding my emotions. I wear ’em on my sleeve, and I wish I was better at controlling my body language and facial expressions when I’m pissed off and/or annoyed.
To tell the truth… I am feeling myself getting sick and I know it’s because I haven’t been getting enough sleep – yet I still set my alarm for 5 AM. WTF, Colleen? W-T-F?
To tell the truth… After I ate lunch, I came home and took a 2 hour nap.
To tell the truth… My wedding countdown is in double digits (93 days). This gives me happy butterflies.
To tell the truth… I am quite excited about my cousin’s bridal shower this weekend.
To tell the truth… I love this blogging community. I think about so many of you during the day, even when I’m not sitting here actively reading your blogs. Is that weird?
To tell the truth… Life is good.
What about you? Are you a details person, or a big-picture person? What’s your favorite Chobani flavor? I love raspberry!
That’s right. I’m rollin’ in the dough 😉
Yesterday afternoon I had the opportunity to participate in a focus group about a new menu design and menu options for Ruby Tuesday. Thank the Lord that snacks were provided – because reading through pages of delicious dishes made my mouth water!
The focus group was two hours and we talked about everything from what pictures pictures and word choices were best for a menu to what quesadilla sounded the most appetizing. Clearly this was right up my ally.
And the best part? They handed me this sucker as I was walkin’ out
That was the easiest 100 bucks I’ve made in a long time – and it made me pretty stinkin’ happy 😉
While waiting for said focus group to start (I’m chronically early for everything) I wrote down my daily workouts for the next month. Compulsive? Probably. It’s t-minus 3 months until the wedding, and I have a fear of blowing up like a balloon. Actually, I’d really just like to lose a few el-bees so when I come back from my honeymoon, everything evens out 😉
I plan on tackling weights + 30 minutes of cardio this afternoon.
I grubbed on some cold oats this morning.
In the mix was the usual: 1/3 cup oats, skim milk and water, PB, jelly, a few Quaker oatmeal squares for some crunch, almond slivers and 1/2 a banana.
This should hold me over until the focus group my co-worker and I are hosting this afternoon. We’re having Potbelly for lunch 😀 They turkey subs are perfect!
I hope you have a fantastic Wednesday! I’ll catch ya later 🙂
Let’s chat – What’s your favorite restaurant(s)? I love Bonefish and Panera 😉
Hello, hello! Whelp, we made it back by 9:30 last night. Just about 12 hours shy of when our day at the airport started. I almost wept tears of joy when the gate agent called our last name 😉
On to more exciting things. This weekend was an absolute blast! We had no trouble getting there, which was fantastic.
We spent the rest of the afternoon soaking up the sun, enjoying beverages and laughing until our sides hurt. Apparently, I was also glued to my glass the entire day.
After the sun set, we figured it was time to come inside and start eating! We had some fab BBQ along with a few other tasty sides.
Over the past four years, I’ve realized that UF folk love all things blue and orange. Even down to the cupcakes. Hey, I didn’t hate it 😉
Lindsay’s graduation was at 6 PM on Saturday, so we spent the morning relaxing with a manicure and pedicure. We had lunch at this great restaurant that served tons of “Southern comfort” type meals. I ended up getting a salad, but I tried a bite of my first fried green tomato and it was tasty!
After we ate our fill, we took some pictures with The Graduate. She looked beautiful, per the usual – and I was very proud of my UF inspired outfit 😉
The graduation was surprisingly quick. We got home much earlier than we expected, which was good because we were able to stayed up chatting, eating and drinking before calling it a night. We had to get up pretty early to
sit in an airport all day fly home.
And now, here I am! Back in good ol’ Northern Virginia ready to start another week! I love going on trips, but the first day back to reality is always a little rough for me. I just want to still be on vacation mode 😉
Vacation mode or not, I’m off to earn some dolla bills 😉 I’ll catch up with you soon! Enjoy your day!
Let’s chat – Is the first day back from vay-cay a struggle for you too? How’s your Monday looking? Busy? Laid back? Let me know!
Happy Sunday, my friends!
I had a such a fun weekend in Florida with my family, but now we’re experiencing a slight hiccup.
My mom is a flight attendant, so we pass ride – fly for free. The only catch is that there has to be open seats on the flight. Well, it looks like everyone and their uncle is trying to get out of Tampa today, so we’re stuck in the airport.
I’ve spent a good amount of the day perusing the magazine racks
Seriously? They’ve been married for like, 48 hours. Back off, media.
I don’t know what it is about being stuck in an airport, but it makes me a ravenous beast. A ravenous beast with no will power.
Case and point, the community slice of lemon pound cake that I personally put a huge dent into.
My mom and I are professional people watchers, so that’s helping some time pass by pretty painlessly. We like to play a slightly judgmental game: Do You Think They Own a Mirror? Seriously. People wear the craziest things. We justify it by saying, well, if they look that outlandish, they probably want us to stare at them.
Go ahead, friends. You can judge us too.
I’ll be back tomorrow with a full recap of my Florida trip! If you missed it yesterday, I stopped by to say hello with a short little vlog 🙂
Let’s chat – Are you a people watcher?
Good morning, friends!! Happy Royal Wedding! 😉 I am sitting glued to my TV watching all the important people roll up to this shindig.
I’m lovin’ all these hats!
Clearly, I can’t possibly write about anything substantial.
Good thing you can check out my guest post over at Stefanie’s blog – The New Healthy 🙂
Have a great Friday!
Hey there, friends! How’s everyone’s week been so far? I feel like it’s one of those weeks when each day feels so slow, but when you actually get towards the end, it feels like it went by pretty fast. Someone please tell me they understand that sentence.
Anyway, this slow/fast week has seemed slow for a reason. Isn’t that always the case when you’re looking forward to a trip?
Tomorrow morning I’ll be on a plane headed to Florida to see these two mugs.
Lindsay (right) is graduating from the University of Florida on Saturday! I’m so proud of her for a) you know, graduating and b) giving me a reason to come celebrate something in Florida. Thasss ma gurl 😉
Don’t fret my Royal Wedding pals, I’ve talked to Wills and Kate and they’re going to pause the festivities when I’m in the air. No sweat 😉
On to this week’s edition of To Tell the Truth (Royal Wedding Edition)!
- I will be setting my alarm for 4:50 AM in order to catch every possible minute of the royal wedding until I have to leave for the airport.
- I may or may not be wearing a tiara while watching said royal wedding.
- When did P.Willis start balding? I wonder if Kate ever thinks “Damn it. You were hot eight years ago.”
- Is it just me, or is it weird that William proposed with his deceased mother’s wedding ring? I wonder if Kate thought “Eight years and I can’t even get an original ring?! Come on, Wills.”
- I often wonder what personal, private conversations are like between William and Kate. Are they talking about having tea with the Queen or are they high-fiving behind closed doors saying, Hell yeah. This wedding is going to be so kick ass. Maybe somewhere in the middle?
- How unreal was it for Kate when she just happened to start “talking” to Prince William when they were in college. How did that conversation with her mother go? “So, there’s this guy…” I can’t imagine.
Cory gave me my first golf lesson this afternoon.
Yes, Mom, our wedding is still on.
Hi! Hello! I’m so happy it’s Thursday – because it means Friday is almost hereeee. Cory and I are going to visit his family for Easter weekend, and I’m looking forward to it 🙂
So last week was the maiden voyage of Totally Truthful Thursdays, but I like To Tell the Truth a little bit better 😉 This is just a tribute to the fact that I embrace my normalcy, and the fact that I like to laugh at myself. I don’t write my blog in hopes of portraying an image of me being totally cool all the time (if ever) or of me constantly making the right decisons. Nope, nobody’s perfect – and that’s the way I like it 🙂
To tell the truth…
- I bought super cute peep-toe wedges this weekend. I wore them yesterday. And I only painted the toe nails that showed. Concern?
- My only qualm with warm weather? I have to stay on top of shaving my legs. No one has to be silky smooth everyday in the winter, ya know?
- The other day I let the number on the scale ruin my day. I couldn’t decide if I was more pissed about the number on the scale or how I was letting that number affect me. I kept telling myself IT’S JUST A NUMBER! But it didn’t work too well. Goodness gracious.
- I actually let out a grunt (well, the girl version of a grunt – more like a heavy sigh) while lifting weights yesterday. I gave myself a dirty look in the mirror.
- I have a test tonight and I wasn’t sweating it until I realized how nervous my classmates are. Their nerves made me nervous for not being nervous. Get it?
So those are some things that are goin’ on in my neck of the woods! 🙂 And hey, don’t forget to enter my Larabar giveaway! I’m picking a winner tomorrow morning!
Let’s chat – Do you ever pull any
ghetto short cuts fashion short cuts? Why touch up the nails that won’t even show?! What’s your favorite color nail polish for the summer time? I love me some bright pink!
Hi, my friends!! I hope your weekend has been splendid thus far 🙂 I survived class yesterday, thank God. I know I still have two more weeks, three papers, one presentation and one test left – but I can finally see a light at the end of this semester.
After having my butt fall asleep from sitting on it for 6 hours, it was time to celebrate! First off, my BFF Jamie is officially finished with college! She had her last day of student teaching on Friday, so wine and good food were absolutely in order 🙂
I munched on half a sweet potato, a side salad and some ribs.
A fair amount of wine was also consumed 😉
Oh, another thing we wanted to celebrate? WE SIGNED A LEASE ON AN APARTMENT!! Friends, I am SO excited! We saw this place on Friday afternoon and we were sold. We slept on it, and decided that it was the place we wanted to be! It’s perfect for us. I had enough forethought to snap some pictures – so let me share some with you!
Here’s part of the bathroom
A snap shot of the kitchen and the dining area
Part of the den!
I guess I didn’t get a picture of the living room, but it’s quite spacey. There’s a big pantry and a balcony, too – and it’s in a perfect location for us. Needless to say, I’m walking on Cloud 9 at the moment 🙂
During my first-ever attempt at searching for an apartment, I learned several things.
- You will absolutely get what you pay for.
- Piggy-backing off #1, I now have a better understanding of the term “low rent.”
- It’s not a good idea to
searchdo anything, ever on an empty stomach.
- People will tell you all kinds of nice things about yourself when they want to sell you something.
- Like an expensive store you know you can’t afford, don’t go in. You will only end up frustrated.
- Patience is a virtue that I should hurry up and work on. Like, now.
Because we didn’t find our future home in one afternoon, I chalked it up to a failure. Cory, who is more level-headed than I, chalked it up gathering valuable information. He said it’s good that we saw both ends of the spectrum and now we have a better understanding of where to focus our efforts. Okay, so maybe we won’t end up living in a van down by the river.
I will certainly keep you updated on our search! In my life, I have either lived with my parents or on campus, so this will truly be an experience!
Aside from my future living situation, I wanted to update you all on a fantastic raffle that my friend Heather has organized. Heather is helping her cousin raise money for Relay for Life, and she asked me about a month ago if I’d be interested in baking something for the raffle. Of course I said yes! Several other amazing bloggers have contributed yummy treats or fun goodies – and I think you should check it out! The raffle is live until next Saturday, April 16th 🙂
Alrighty, my friends! I’ve got work to do. I have three papers, two presentations and one video recording standing between me and the end of my first year of grad school. These next three weeks are going to be insaaane!
