Couches, Tables and Beds – Oh, My!

This afternoon I had to say farewell (for now) to my BFF, Jamie 😦 Her brother is getting married this weekend and then she’s headed back to live in Richmond for the summer.

Of course we had to have frozen yogurt as our goodbye snack πŸ˜‰ My favorite fro-yo place in Richmond just opened a shop in my neck of the woods! It’s a good day, my friends.

Surprising Afternoon Workout

Some of you may know that I’m usually an AM workout gal, but it wasn’t in the cards this morning. So after my fro-yo extravaganza, I made a pit-stop at the gym and was able to get in a 4-mile run.

Can you believe that?Β I sure can’t. I was just trotting along, and when I got to about 2.5 miles I realized I wasn’t really tired. I even ran one mile at 7.0 mph, which is a little bit faster than my comfortable 6.3 mph. I was proud of myself!

Couches, Tables and Beds, Oh My!

Cory and I spent the evening furniture shopping. Woah. Doin’ big things, I know. But as lame as furniture shopping may sound, it was actually exciting! I’ve never owned my own furniture and I’ve never owned anything with Cory – so this is all very fun πŸ˜€

All that sitting on couches and Ooohh-ing and Ahhh-ing over memory foam beds worked up our appetites. Once we got in the car my hanger level was at a solid 7, so I told Cory “just make a decision. I don’t care what or where we eat.”

He made a good decision! El Fresco it was! πŸ™‚ I ordered two soft grilled chicken tacos with black beans and rice. Delish.

I know it is Mexican food, and I understand that many would dispute the healthiness of it all, but the ingredients are always so fresh here!

Look at that fresh salsa, fresh guac and grilled chicken. I’m also a huge fan of black beans – so all in all, I left stuffed, but I didn’t feel totally bad about it πŸ™‚

Now my night includes doing a whole lotta nothin’! I hope you’ve enjoyed your day, friends!

Life’s Most Important Questions

Hi, friends! I’m headed to Richmond for a Girl’s Day/Night!! AH, what a perfect end to Spring Break πŸ™‚ If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, it will be no surprise as to who I’m spending my time with. Jamie and Emily of course! πŸ˜‰ I feel so blessed to have Jamie living up here in NOVA and that I’m able to see Emily as often as I do.

Last night in preparation for our girl’s day, Jamie and I were discussing a very important topic (She’s grey. I’m green)

Jamie is my go-to person for most of life’s toughest questions. Like:Β Jamie, is it ‘naked’ or ‘necked?’ Or:Β Jamie, are you automatically an asshole if you drive a Hummer? A personal favorite happened a year ago when we were in college. It was a Thursday night (bar night) and it was pouring. I mean pooouring and we had to walk to the bar. So I asked:Β Jamie, is it okay if I tuck my jeans into my rain boots and wear them to the bar? She’s a good friend: No, Colleen. That is not acceptable, even if youΒ do have a boyfriend.

I’m glad I have such a good friend.

Well, friends, Jamie will be here soon! I’m looking forward to laughing until my side hurts, eating fro-yo for lunch and chowin’ down on some Mexican for dinner – and enjoying an adult beverage or two πŸ˜‰

Question: Do you tell your friend if she’s making a faux pas? Would you want her to tell you? πŸ˜‰ Do you have a go-to friend that will always tell you the truth?

Mexican Food = Happiness

It’s Day 13 of my 30 Day Picture Challenge! This question was a no brainer:Β A picture of your favorite place to eat

La Parota. Parota. Mexico. All names are synonymous with my favorite place to eat. This picture was taken in October when Emily and I went back to Longwood for Oktoberfest. If you’re a Longwood alumni or current student – I know you can understand my love of this beautiful hole-in-the-wall.

When I was in college I think I ate there once a week. Okay, maybe once every 2 weeks. Regardless, it was a running joke that I should have a “season pass” type deal because I was there so often. We got unlimited free chips (which I would eat uncontrollably), I would order one soft chicken taco and walk out with a $2.22 bill. And their queso dip is to dieeee for!

Okay, I’m done now. But yes, this little Mexican restaurant in Farmville, VA makes me happy πŸ™‚

Let’s chat – Do you have a favorite restaurant? A favorite food? Can you control yourself around chips and salsa at at Mexican place?
