Lucky Duck

Hi there! Is everyone excited for an abbreviated workweek? You know I don’t like Tuesdays, but since I have a very short week this week, I can handle it ๐Ÿ™‚

Monday recapย

Yesterday was such a great, lazy day. I love days that have absolutely nothing on the agenda. No “have to’s” of any kind. This weekend I slept 9 – 10 hours each night and it was glorious. I guess my body needed to catch up on some sleep!

I spent about an hour at the pool yesterday. Jesus Christ – it was 100 degrees outside! That’s a little too hot for me. I also limited my time both pool days because I know being in the sun isn’t the best. But, gooosh, I love having a tan!

Post-pool I came back and whipped up a smoothie in no time ๐Ÿ™‚

My spinach stash had gone bad, so this was a regular old smoothie (please note my extremely precise measurements):

  • ย Just enough skim milk to get everything movin’
  • A handful of ice cubes
  • A dollop of blueberry Chobani
  • 1 1/2 tbsp PB
  • 1 banana
  • 1 frozen strawberry

It was tasty, and even though you cannot taste the spinach, I missed it!

Two for twoย

I made a smoothie, and Cory made a baguette from scratch. No big deal.

He’s never made bread. He just felt like giving it a try. It turned out so well! I even snagged a huge chunk to eat at lunch today ๐Ÿ™‚

Cory was actually 2 for 2 in the kitchen yesterday. We had a little cookout and he made the best burgers I have ever tasted in my entire life. Truly, they were out of this world. How lucky am I? Seriously.

Gross picture, I know. But this was the only one I took. The food was hot and ready to be eaten, so I really didn’t take the time to try and be creative. You forgive me, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

(PS – We didn’t have any butter for the corn, so I sprinkled some parmesan cheese on the cob and it was quite a nice substitute!)

Movin’ Out

Cory moves into our new place in less than a month (!!), so he spent a good chunk of time cleaning out his closet. Look at all this stuff he’s sending to Goodwill!

A good amount of t-shirts were Longwood related, and it was kind of sad to see them placed into the give away pile. I would see a shirt and think “You wore that on such-and-such date.” It was strange!

Tuesday Workout

Remember how I said I’ve been getting 9 – 10 hours of sleep for the past few days? Yeah. Well, when my alarm went off at the ass-crack of dawn, I didn’t budge. An afternoon workout is in my future.

Tuesday Breakfastย

I am running so low on food right now! Like I said, it’s a short week for me because I’m traveling this weekend, so I’m trying to avoid buying food that will go bad. That said, I went to the grocery store at 6 AM to buy juuust enough to get me through the next three days ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank goodness I made the decision to go to the store – how would I have been able to enjoy my beloved cereal combo without milk?!

Quaker oatmeal squares, Special K Multi Grain Oats & Honey, Cheerios, banana, almond sliversย

Well, my friends – that’s the story so far! I’m off to make the bacon ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll catch you guys later!

Let’s chat:

ย Have you ever made bread from scratch? I sure haven’t! ย

ย What’s your favorite smoothie concoction?ย Plain and simple:ย PB & banana, (and spinach) for me!ย

My Day in Pictures

Hey hey, blog friends!! I hope your day has been fabulous! Because I was so busy this weekend, I didn’t keep up with my 30 day picture challenge. So let’s pick up where we left off, shall we?

Day 16 is a picture of your day. I thought it might be fun to recap my day in a couple pictures ๐Ÿ™‚

Lunch was a smoothie – 1/2 a banana, frozen blueberries, 1 tablespoon of Nutella, 3/4 cup milk, a tablespoon of Vanilla Chobani and a hand full of ice cubes ๐Ÿ™‚

The afternoon was spent with my mom shopping for her Mother of the Bride dress. We were unsuccessful, but it was fun! (Sorry for the unevenness of the dress. This was the only place in the dressing room with enough light!)

I got some fantastic samples of Gnu Food bars. They are so delish! Stay tuned for a give away! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cory and I made a tasty dinner of whole wheat penne, tomato sauce, grilled chicken, broccoli, yellow peppers and onion. It was so simple, yet so good!

We went out to the Apple store (again) to see what time they’re opening tomorrow and we passed a candy store (Cory’s favorite thing) on our way out. Obviously we had to stop in ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wasn’t in the mood for candy, so my after dinner treat was an apple and Nutella.

Now I’m relaxing and getting ready to start a book for a paper that’s due next week. Good thing it actually seems interesting ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy the rest of your night! ๐Ÿ˜€

Let’s chat – What’s the last book you read? Gummy/fruity candy vs chocolate? Have you ever had a Gnu Food bar?

Red Wine & New Sneaks

I GOT TO SLEEP IN TODAY! ๐Ÿ˜€ It was glorious, friends.

I have a fun day planned with my BFF Jamie. We haven’t seen each other in three (?!) weeks. It’s disgusting. We’re having lunch today and playing catch up.

Yesterday I had my volunteer training, and Cory was kind enough to plan dinner so I didn’t have to think about it. He’s the best. He even bought a bottle of wine for us to enjoy while we were making dinner. We’re NOT wine-o’s at all. We’ve been together for almost five years and this is the first bottle of wine that we’ve ever purchased (like, not as a gift for someone else). All you wine lovers out there, pick your jaws off the ground ๐Ÿ˜‰

I really enjoy white wine over red. But this was red, and I’m trying to be more “well rounded” so I drank it. I’m trying to acquire the taste ๐Ÿ™‚ While I was working on “acquiring,” Cory grilled up some Cajun chicken with a cilantro/yogurt sauce with veggies and a salad on the side. It was great!!

After dinner we went out to Dick’s on the hunt for some new sneaks. I had mentioned my awful shin and ankle pains, and many of you suggested new shoes. I figured that was the problem, so out we went! Let me preface this with the fact that I don’t like spending money on myself. I’m frugal and I’m proud of it ๐Ÿ™‚ It takes a lot for me to go out and buy something for myself. I was standing in line at Dick’s with sweaty palms because I knew I was about to drop $120 on a pair of shoes and a sports bra. It’s a problem.

But I love the shoes! They’re so comfy!

I also love how flexible they are!

I wanted to try them out at the gym this morning. I was being a huge diva because it was pouring and I didn’t want to get my new shoes (or myself) wet. But I sucked it up and walked over to the gym, only to find that it was locked! The card access is never activated.ย Sonofabitch. I walked back to Cory’s apartment and threw in the towel. Sorry guys, I’m only human ๐Ÿ™‚ (The shoes felt nice of the walk over, though!)

When I came back I made myself a nice smoothie ๐Ÿ™‚ Half a banana, some frozen blueberries, one frozen strawberry, 3/4 cup skim milk, ~1 tbsp cocoa powder and half a scoop of strawberry Whey protein powder.

Now I’ve got to get the ball rolling and shower so I can look presentable for my lunch date ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope you have a wonderful day!

Let’s chat – What brand are your running shoes? White vs red wine? Do you have a favorite smoothie concoction? I need some new ideas!
