Today was a day that I thought was going to be sucked away by furniture shopping, but it actually turned out to be a fun one!
We walked away with beautiful living room and dining room sets 🙂 Chelsey’s advice to buy quality pieces, rather than one’s that “will do” was right on target with what we wanted to do. We haven’t found a bedroom set yet, but we will in time. Good things come to those who wait, right? 😉
We celebrated with some cool refreshing Starbucks coffee.
Can you believe that this was my first iced coffee of the season?! Me either. What have I been thinking? This iced sugar-free vanilla coffee was on point. Cory raved about the caramel macchiatto as well 🙂
After a quick lunch, I headed to the pool to do summa this
I hung out at the pool for about an hour, and Cory and I decided we didn’t want to sit at home for the rest of the night – so we went on an impromptu date and went to the movies!
Oh my gosh! If you liked the first movie (come on, who didn’t?) you have to go see this one! It was pretty darn funny 🙂
I also thought it was funny that everyone in the theatre brought their own snacks. The girl next to me had a whole Chipotle burrito. And I thought we were being smart…
Okay friends, I’m off to watch
five more an episode or two of The Tudors 😉 I’ll catch ya tomorrow!
Let’s chat – What was the last movie you saw in theaters? Do you bring your own snacks?
You will all be pleased to know that I survived my Lady Doctor experience. She did actually ask me how school was going, and it made me chuckle.
Since I dedicated my morning’s post to that experience, I need to fill you guys in on the rest of my (less traumatizing) day 😉
One thing was good about today’s appointment – I had a little extra time this morning. That meant I got to ditch P90X and actually go to the gym!! I ran three wonderful miles and felt great afterwards.
I came back to a breakfast of overnight oats. I again added pomegranate Chobani, but I also had a baby piece of a banana sitting around so I mashed that up and added it to the mix. It truly tasted like a pomegranate-banana smoothie! If I wasn’t so attached to my toppings, I would have eaten it as-is.
Once I got back to campus after visiting The Lady Doctor, I felt that it was more than appropriate to treat myself to some iced coffee. A grande sugar-free hazelnut coffee with skim milk, if you want to get technical 😉
I’m aware that drinking iced coffee while having to wear gloves seems counterintuitive, but it’s what I really wanted. I don’t mess with cravings. I just end up disappointed if I do 😉
Lunch today hit the spot. I had my veggies topped with a cut up veggie burger with an apple on the side.
Dinner will be classroom style tonight. It’s the regular turkey sandwich on a bagel thin with red peppers, hummus, mustard and half of a Laughing Cow spreadable cheese wedge. The co-stars of the meal are grapes and Kashi crackers. I’m a creature of habit. And I’m a graduate student who can’t afford new and exciting meals all the time 😉
Today is day seven of the 30 Day Picture Challenge!
A picture of your night. Get ready to have your mind blown 😉
Textbooks and magazines. I like to mix business with pleasure 🙂
On to the winner of the CNC Stores Gift Card Give Away!!
Cynthia from It All Changes!! I love coffee mugs as well, so I hope you pick a neat one! 🙂 Please email me at email@example.com so I can send you the promo information.
Okay, my friends – I’ve got to run to class. Tonight we’re doing practice counseling sessions. My fictional problems include alcoholism, depression and a bout of infidelity. Whew! My “counselor” will have a lot to work with, that’s for sure! 🙂
Let’s chat – What breakfast would you make if you had extra time in the mornings? Are you a Chobani fan? Do you give yourself little treats when you “accomplish” something?
Good morning! I am running around like a crazy lady this morning. One of my biggest character flaws is that I am outrageously indecisive. I mean – it takes me ten minutes to decide wether I should wash my hair or shave my legs first 😉 Just kidding.
Let me explain. Cory has the day off for President’s Day – but I do not. I was considering taking today off and putting in hours on Friday instead (gasp!). But, I am helping facilitate a focus group this evening with college students about alcohol use, so I thought it would be beneficial to come in today and prepare. (I’m actually really looking forward to hearing what they have to say. I digress.) I couldn’t decide if I should come in for half a day today (plus tonight) and half a day Friday – or just Friday. Back and forth. Back and forth. The Pros and Cons list was extensive 😉
Anyway – I’m here. At the office. Working, obviously 😉
I’ll be here until early afternoon and then I’m off to run some wedding errands before the
alcohol partay focus group tonight 🙂 I think I may need to get some Starbucks in there somewhere.
Because I have no nutritional or fitness information for you this morning, I figured the next best thing to share would be a little something from Stumble Upon that made me laugh (and shout “In yo’ face!!”)
Well played, Toby. Well played. 😉
Enjoy your day, friends! Catch ya later!
Question for the day – What’s your favorite Starbucks drink?
Hi, friends! Happy Friday! Because I’m in school, my schedule works out so that I don’t have class or work on Fridays, so it’s officially the weekend for me 😀
This morning I slept in until 7:15. Woah, slow down right? 😉 But really, compared to 5:30, 7:15 is just wonderful. I’m going to be honest, and you can feel free to judge, but (again) this morning I debated going to the gym. What the heck is going on here? But, I weighed my options per the usual, and I went. I mean, what else did I have to do?
So I got to the gym, and the “regulars” where there. You know, those familiar strangers. I’m totally weird and I make up stories in my head about what these people are like based on the minimal information I have about them. My favorite is Stanley (that’s his actual name. He told me so.). He is in his late thirties with long, curly gray hair. He does the elliptical for an hour every day at 6:30. He always comes in and says “Happy (insert day of the week here)!!” Yeah, yeah, Stan. Happy whatever day. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to talk to anyone when I’m working out. I’m tired. I’m sweating. I just want to get in and out. Sorry I’m not sorry.
Anyway, I think Stan (I’m sure that’s what he really likes to be called) has lots of cats. I also think he has an abundance of history books strewn about his apartment. I don’t know if he’s ever been on a date, but for his sake, I hope he has. I think Stan calls his mother at least once a day (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
That’s Stan in a nutshell. Enthralling, I know. I could go on and on about PJ (she always wears PJs to workout. I’m confused), The Hunchback of Nordic Track (she hunches over as she goes to town on the elliptical), and Helen (she just looks like a Helen), but not today 🙂
I’m sitting in Starbucks sippin’ on my sugar free hazelnut coffee. I’ve treated myself to Starbucks today (not a caloric treat, a spending treat) because I love Fridays 🙂
So, for breakfast, I had my grande coffee and a banana
I usually like a bigger breakfast, but my tummy isn’t feelin’ so hot this morning 😦
For my workout:
- I ran a quick mile on the treadmill to warm up
- Weights – squats (20 x 4 ), curls (15 x 2), bicep curl to overhead press – sans the squats this girl in the video does (15 x 2), lat pull down (12 x 2), upright rows -just dumbbells (10 x 2), seated lateral raises (12 x 2), tricep dips (12 x 2)
- And a few more moves I don’t know the names of – I’ve just done them in a class or in a workout video! I focused on my shoulders and back – I’ve got a wedding dress to wear in a few months!
Which is why I’ll be reading this baby later today… 🙂
I’m off to spend the afternoon with my mom and dad! My mom is waiting for me so we can watch The Biggest Loser. She’s DVRed it for me so we can watch it together 🙂 I can’t wait to see who the new trainers are!!
I’m also excited because Cory’s parents are coming to visit this weekend 🙂 Catch ya later!
Question of the day – What are you excited about for this weekend?
