Whirlwind of a Weekend!

Hi, friends! Long time no see πŸ™‚ I didn’t post yesterday because my day was jam-packed busy. So, let’s go through the highlights, shall we?

Best Eats

Cory and I went to Jason’s Deli for dinner on Friday and it was stellar. I think I may have found my new favorite sandwich

This, my friends, is the Grilled Portobello Wrapini- grilled portobello mushroom, organic spinach, asiago, guacamole, pico de gallo. Pressed within an olive oil-basted organic wheat wrap.

Seriously. If you have a Jason’s Deli in your area, run – don’t walk – to go order one of these bad boys. It’s sandwich heaven.

We also stopped by Sweet Frog for a little treat.

This was my second visit in two days – concern? I like self-serve fro-yo because I can get just enough to hit the spot. Usually when I order pre-made desserts, they’re of behemoth stature and they can be a total waistline danger.

Home Away From Home

The bulk of our weekend has been spent in furniture stores. I had dreams of laying by the pool and soaking up the skin cancer sun, but alas – Real Life stepped in the way.

Here’s the thing. Brand new furniture is expensive. At 23 and 25 years old, Cory and I do pretty well for ourselves, but we’re in no means rollin’ in the dough.

After a certain point, I just want to find something and buy it. I’m also easily persuaded by salespeople. Β I’m so grateful that Cory has enough sense to actually shop around before dropping several thousand dollars πŸ˜‰

New ObsessionΒ

Oh my GOD! I have spent an embarrassing amount of time in the past two days watching season 1. I read the Other Bolyen Girl a few years ago and have been obsessed with the Tudors ever sense. I don’t know why I never watched this show. Maybe because it should be X-rated?

So before we head out for the day, I got up and spent about 40 minutes in the gym lifting weights and completing a quick mile and half run.

I refueled with a huge green monster and the comics πŸ™‚

Am I the only one who still enjoys reading the comics?Β

Into the green monster went:

  • A handful of ice cubes
  • 1 banana
  • A huge handful of spinach
  • Handful of blueberries
  • 1 tbsp PB

Okay folks! That’s where we are up to this point! I keep forgetting that the weekend isn’t actually over today. Β It’s like Saturday Round 2 πŸ˜€

I hope you are all enjoying your holiday weekend!!

Let’s chat –Β

Have you seen The Tudors?Β

Ever been to Jason’s Deli?Β

If you’ve ever shopped for furniture – is it something you love or loath?Β

Weekend Wrap Up

Hi, friends! I apologize for the minimal/late blogging this weekend. I was out having fun yesterday and today has been consumed with driving, packing and unpacking.

Yesterday was such a good time, though! Not to mention absolutely gorgeous outside!

When we got to Richmond, we didn’t waste much time before we were out walking around in the beautiful sunshine. We made our way to Verry Berry, which happens to be the best frozen yogurt place I’ve ever visited. Even better than my beloved Sweet Frog! If you live near the Richmond area, you MUST go to Verry Berry. Soon. And often.

Just look at the toppings bar!

There was tons of fruit to the left of this, but I was less interested in that πŸ˜‰

Jamie and Emily said my fro-yo looked pathetic, so I’ll forego any pictures – but man, it was tasty!

We passed this cute coffee shop while we were walking around, so we decided to venture in when we all agreed that the fro-yo (at noon) would not hold us over until dinner time. I ordered half of a turkey and cheese sandwich that was topped with Granny Smith slices. Yummay!

We ended up walking around this super, super cute part of Richmond called Cary Street. We walked into all kinds of fun shops – one being a neat toy store. Yes, we did try on the hats and glasses in the “dress up” section πŸ™‚

We finally made our way to local Mexican restaurant and got our grub on. It’s what we do best πŸ˜‰

I don’t know WHAT that white sauce was, but it was fantastic.

The night was relatively low key. We stopped by to say hi to Jamie’s parents and enjoyed a glass of wine.

My camera was acting like a silly bitch and would not focus. Just squint a little bit πŸ˜‰

We spent the rest of the night in sweats, drinking cocktails and watching chick flicks! Perfection.

I can’t lie, I’m dreading getting back into the swing of the real world tomorrow. Back to school. Back to work. Back to eating dinner alone or in class. I cannot explain to you how happy it made me to see Cory every day this week. Life is just so much better when you have someone to come home to, you know? Five more months. Fiiiive mooooree months πŸ˜€

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, my friends!

Let’s chat – How do you prepare yourself for the work/school week when the weekend is coming to an end? When a vacation ends, do you find it difficult to get back into your normal routine?

Icing Overload

Hi, friends! I hope you’ve been enjoying your weekend so far πŸ™‚ I certainly have!

What started off my weekend on the right foot? The lovely people at Chobani, of course!

I was in touch with a fantastic Chobani representative, Emily, and she sent me a sample of 12 flavors! I can’t wait to try black cherry and mango πŸ™‚

Cory and I headed to Richmond around noon and when we got into town, we headed straight to our first appointment: cupcake testing at Frostings!

I told Cory how happy I’d be if we could just lay down and have them squirt icing into our mouths. I think he gagged a little bit. Whatever.

The lovely people at Frostings let us pick out any cupcakes we wanted to try. It was fabulous.

From left to right:

  • The Classic vanilla bean cake with vanilla buttercream frosting
  • Cookies and Cream chocolate cake, vanilla cream filling, crushed Oreo buttercream frosting
  • RED VELVET CAKE! classic southern cocoa cake with vanilla buttercream icing (ohmygoddd)
  • Chocolate Hazelnut rich chocolate cake, NUTELLA FILLING, chocolate hazelnut frosting
  • The All American rich chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream.

We’re going back later today to try their Saturday special – the Coconut Cupcake coconut cake, cream cheese frosting topped with shredded coconut.

We did some major damnage

The Red Velvet was the obvious favorite. The Nutella filling in the Hazelnut Cupcake was phenomenal. I could eat cream cheese icing all day, every day πŸ˜‰

When we left, I was in a sugar coma. I got such a headache. I’m no stranger to sweets – but I definitely overdid it on the icing. The girl who was working with us was asking us questions, and I was answering in between licks of icing. It was probably embarrassing.

After the cupcakes we headed across town to check out some limos!

I don’t know what it is is about limos, but I think they’re so fun πŸ™‚

We spent the rest of the day hanging out. We stopped by the Apple store to see if we could snag an iPad, but the line was ridiculous! We’ll be going back later today.

We’ve got another busy day of reception planning – so I better go get ready! There is this fantastic fro-yo place in Richmond called Sweet Frog, and Cory promised me a trip πŸ˜€ I think all the frosting is out of my system – so I’m ready to bring on more sugar πŸ˜€

Enjoy your Saturday!

Let’s chat – What’s your favorite Chobani flavor? Which one of those cupcake flavors sounds the best to you? Did you stand in line for an iPad?
