Funfetti!

Thanks for bearing with me as I vented about the Golden Rule! You guys are wonderful blends! 🙂

So, before I was trigged to write about being nice to people, I wanted to share with you my second baking-from-a-box experience this week.

Cory and I were thrilled to find out that our friend Phillip (who always travels for work) was going to be in the NOVA area yesterday! It just so happened to be his birthday, and when I asked him ever-so-slyly what his favorite cake flavor was, I was oddly excited when he said funfetti.

Prepare to flash back to 5th grade, folks

I even found the RIGHT funfetti icing. I haven’t seen it in a while.

Does anyone else know what I’m talking about? The newer kind just has sprinkles in the icing. Any funfetti fan knows that’s just bologna. The original has glorious sugar beads. Someone back me up, please.

Regardless, I shouldn’t bake alone with original funfetti icing.

From what I hear, they turned out well! For some reason I didn’t get around to having one. Good thing I bought two tubs of icing 🙂

I want to know – What’s your favorite cake/icing combo? I love red velvet/cream cheese icing. I also get down with the totally exciting vanilla/vanilla combination 😉

Omg!!! I totally know which fronting you are talking about, I haven’t been able to fine that stuff anywhere!!! Good find!

  2. I love basically anything with cream cheese frosting!! It is THAT good! And I LOVE funfetti cake. I remember in grade school, for birthdays parents would often bring in this dessert where it was a kiddie ice cream cone filled with funfetti cake and frosting on top. I used to LIVE for that stuff!!

Hey Colleen! It’s marlana, whitney’s friend. It’s so funny…I was on foodpress.com and “funfetti” caught my eye on the homepage because I just made funfetti cupcakes this weekend with an awesome trick I learned (you can substitute a can of diet sprite for all the other ingredients like oil and eggs) and it comes out amazing! Anyway, when I clicked it I was like, that looks like Colleen! which is also really funny because whitney was just telling me about your blog last night…oh the coincidences haha. anyway, thats all!

Hi, Marlana!! That is so funny how that happened! I can’t believe the can of diet sprite trick! Does that work for all boxed caked mixes?!

I heard it does but haven’t tried it myself. One suggestion I saw was devil’s food cake with cherry coke zero which also sounds yum! I think I’ll prob try it and let you know how it turns out! PS if you’re ever looking for some new recipes, there’s a few healthy ones here and there on a blog that me and my friends have (including whitney) (whitney may have already told you about it, but just in case she didn’t) http://adeliciousdistraction.wordpress.com/
